Part Exchanging vs Selling Your Car: What Should You Do?

Should I part exchange my car, or sell it for cash?

Often, when part-exchanging your car you’ll be quoted much less than you feel the car is worth. You also don’t get a fair discount on your new car. It may seem a quick and convenient way to sell your car. However, you need to be cautious as you may be getting a worse deal than you think.

Why is less offered in a part-exchange deal?

When you go to part-exchange your beloved car, the dealer often sees the part exchange as one transaction. This means that the amount they offer you in part-exchange influences the discount given to the new car. If you choose to part-exchange your car, you need to be cautious. You want to be getting the most for your money after all. In some instances, you may end up with a much lower price than if you were to sell your old car for cash and buy a new one individually.

Should I sell my car for parts?

At SellYourCar2Jack we understand that selling your car for parts is a quick way to get cash but you’ll probably be left feeling like you’ve been scammed out of a deal. There’s also the option of taking the car apart yourself. However, sourcing local scrapyards to buy individual parts takes time, research and is incredibly challenging if the workings of a car isn’t your forte.

Whichever option you choose make sure you shop around and weigh up all options. For a quote from us simply enter your details onto the form on our homepage and we will give you a free valuation. We’ve also got offices in Redditch and Solihull - do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
